Smokey and the Bandit

The second movie for my blog is another classic. Smokey and the Bandit came out in 1977 and it’s an action packed film that will keep you entertained the whole way through. Any guy who loves fast cars, crazy driving, and southern traditions will love this movie. Smokey and the Bandit is a wild ride that will keep you sitting at the edge of the seat until the end.

The Bandit, played by Burt Reynolds, is offered a chance to make some serious cash in 28 hours. Big and Little Enos are looking for two crazy drivers willing to do the impossible for some big bucks. The Bandit and his trucker Cledus (Snowman) jump at the mention of $80,000 and get the car and truck rolling. They have to drive 1800 miles from Georgia to Texas and back in just 28 hours. However, their precious cargo will be 400 cases of Coors beer, which at this time, was only legally distributed to certain states west of the Mississippi. If they get caught, they will be charged will bootlegging and be in some serious trouble. Bandit and Snowman pick up the cargo and are on their way back when they run into a runaway bride. She joins the pair and ends up bringing more baggage than the Bandit was hoping for. She just happened to run away from a wedding with Sherriff Buford T. Justice’s son. The sheriff will not be humiliated and starts a cross country pursuit for the legendary Bandit. After fights, hot pursuits, and a little help from his southern C.B. radio trucker buddies the bandit is able to make it back to the finish line with minutes to spare. The pursuit is not over however, the Bandit and his gang hop into the Enos’s Cadillac and are headed off for their second mission, double or nothing.

After watching the movie, I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. It is exciting from the very beginning to the end. I believe this is a good movie for guys, because it is full of fast cars, hot pursuit chases, beer, fights, and lots of action. Smokey and the Bandit shows what American Muscle is all about with the Pontiac Trans Am and their specially painted Peterbuilt. If you like action packed movies, I highly suggest Smokey and the Bandit.

  1. Smokey and the bandit is such a classic! “I believe this is a good movie for guys, because it is full of fast cars, hot pursuit chases, beer, fights, and lots of action.” I definitely agree with this statement. That’s probably why I like the movie so much. The humor in the movie is great, and the Trans Am is one of my favorite cars, and this movie made the car so popular and what a great help it was for Pontiacs Trans Am sales. I think The Dukes of Hazzard movie would also be a good “guys movie” to review.

  3. Well, I'm not a guy, but I do love movie reviews! I read them all the time, even if I don't have much interest in the film. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy this film, but I'd be willing to watch it. Can't wait to read more reviews from you!

  4. This movie is quite exciting. I have seen it a number of times, and enjoy it each time. You described the movie well. Just like I remember it. When it seems hard enough to out run the law, But when you have the run away bride of the sherif's son, you got some problems. Overall great job.
    10-4 good buddy
